We know - DON'T SAY IT! - but if you live up here in Santa Clarita.... you are officially over the summer. Making the national news with 110-degree days for nearly two weeks straight and a wonderful wildfire that shut the 5 freeway down... we're just, ready for Fall. Please.
Watermelonade - make this!
Okay, at the risk of sounding like a blog... we are sharing Senior Designer Ali's latest drink obsession because it is still warm out, and this is a serious thirst quencher! From fabulous chef Carla Lalli Music's latest cookbook "That Sounds So Good:"

Design Studio Updates

We cannot wait to get moving into construction on this awesome project. Designed for a family of five, with three kids moving into their later teen years all too quick – the homeowners wanted to create a family focused home refresh that made the next handful of years all together something very special. The whole house is getting a refresh, but we wanted to highlight the kitchen remodel today because we all know the kitchen is at the heart of a family home.me.
With kitchen remodels there's always a handful of approaches to take. One is gut it all and start with a clean slate - plumbing lines be damned. Then there's the more financially savvy approach of scrapping the old, but keep the truly expensive things, like water and gas lines, in place and rebuilding from there. They may seem small, but construction costs can kill your budget quickly.

Refreshed Family Home

The homeowners wanted to create a family focused home refresh that made the next handful of years all together something very special.

We are spreading the love (read: dollars) out throughout this home so we started with what was there. With the overall layout settled on, we wanted to re-think the refrigerator wall to build in a breakfast/coffee bar zone. Choosing warmer woods in contrast to new cream cabinets along that wall creates a real feeling of depth softness to the room that compliments the rest of the homes revamped, globally inspired design.
For the featured backsplash: an Ancient Fossilized Natural Stone captures an intimate quality with an exquisite, petrified stone sculpted into a mixed pebble mosaic pattern. Painterly lines of agate, quartz, and jasper in an earthy color palette of gray, white, and beige, create a rich visual with old-worn depth.

Functional and Cozy

The new heart of this home is going to be a perfect balance of functional and cozy. We cannot wait to share more!

Keeping a clean path to the refrigerator from the adjoining Family Room, we designed a banquette style breakfast table. With everyone in the family busy with work and homework, it was important to design multiple comfortable places throughout the home to spread out and work, yet still feel like they were spending time together.
