Green Valley Kitchen

Our clients moved to Southern California from the Northwest looking for a horse property. Landing in a California Ranch style home with an old out of date kitchen they reached out to us to for help integrating their Japanese antiques, tribal art and California Ranch style into a contemporary kitchen. With function first in mind we wanted to ensure the kitchen worked as well for the two of them as it did with a houseful of guests and extra cooks. We selected a palette of soft whites and subtle graining not to distract from the beautiful art, then used chunkier cabinet hardware that tied back to the California ranch style and kept the cabinet style sleek and minimal. A media room off the living room which had been problematic for the clients when their grandkids were visiting, was closed off and re-opened off the kitchen dining area with the ability to slide the barn doors closed as needed. That small change made a big difference for our clients allowing them to recapture the living room for adult conversation.
