Chauncer Place

In the years since our clients had purchased their home, they had raised a family and moved into the empty nester stage. They were ready to embrace this new phase of their life with a fresh new look and feel for their home. We stepped in to eliminate any traces of the heavy Mediterranean style of the home by introducing fresh light wall color and a relaxed livable style to the furnishings and lighting selections that give an elevated look to the interiors.

The living room and dining room flow together with warm wood tones, a graphic rug and a balance of rustic and refined furnishings. In the family room we completely redesigned the previously heavy fireplace mantle and entertainment unit, kept the client’s existing sectional (we’ve since replaced it) and coffee table, but added in a rich green leather chair, structural floor lamp, and textured rug to balance the space.

We gave new life to a dated, but otherwise very functional kitchen by introducing a rich cabinet color that is a perfect backdrop for the aged brass hardware and light fixture. The backsplash tile introduced needed texture and along with the light marble countertops give the kitchen a fresh, happy feel. We extended the island just enough to comfortably accommodate two bar stools.

Our client’s called us back a year after we completed the first floor of the home to re-imagine the main bedroom and bath. In the bath, warm wood tones balance the coolness of marble for a light, open and airy space. A bookshelf detail added to the wall opens between the main bedroom and retreat to add just a hint of separation. The texture provided by the rug, lamps and pillows are just what the room needs to feel relaxed and welcoming.
