Chelsea Court
This apartment building in Hancock Park is part of the Francis Property Management Group. We’ve been lucky enough to design lobbies and hallways in four of their buildings (not yet photographed, but coming soon). FPM has impressed us with their commitment to well-maintained buildings and a desire to create common spaces with real design intent rather than the vanilla spaces you see SO much of.
The lobby of this building had not been updated for a number of years and didn’t reflect the area or the level of resident they wanted to attract. We envisioned a space that felt like the lobby of a high end boutique hotel. We started by removing all the dated pink granite that lined floors and columns and then layered in wall coverings and furnishings that gave the space an eclectic personality. Integrating the mailboxes into a wall of wood tile for visual texture that was extremely durable we added a narrow shelf to set a bag or drink while accessing the mailboxes. Painting the walls of the elevator lobby out black to helped keep the focus on the lobby spaces. Now when residents and prospective residents walk in from the tree lined streets of Hancock Park, they feel like they’ve entered a space that reflects the neighborhood they live in.
